The Use of Territorial Defence Force in Crisis Situations on a Voivodeship Level (2)

Abstract:

The present article is devoted to the new kind of the Polish Armed Forces, namely the Territorial Defence Force (Polish: Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej, WOT), the essence of which is, i.a., territoriality. Among the many tasks facing this kind of military unit, there are the ones involving non-military threats. By connecting the two basic elements mentioned above, the authors present in the following article the possibilities of using the Territorial Defence Force and the alternate process of administering the armed force component on a voivodeship level.

A retired Commander, PhD Professor, Ryszard Szynowski. He is a graduate of Polish Naval Academy (1985). In 2001, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Strategic Defence Department of National Defence University of Warsaw. In 2013, by the resolution of the Board of Command and Maritime Operations Department of the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia, he was awarded social sciences post-doctoral degree in the field of Security Education. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the University of Dąbrowa Górnicza in the Security and Crisis Management Department. He is the author of publications dedicated mainly to national security of the Republic of Poland in the light of domestic and international law, Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland in the regulatory system of military administration, personnel pragmatics in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, and human resource management of fire brigades, services and inspections.
