Ing. Jan Mazal, CSc., Col. (Ret.), born in 1951, commanding and staff assignments in engineer troops and in the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic for more than 30 years. Since 2007 he has been working as a senior lecturer, Force Support Group, Department of Combat Support Management, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), University of Defence. In 1993 he successfully accomplished a CSc. (Ph.D.) thesis. He is a member of army working groups dealing with engineer problems, countering improvised explosive devices (C-IED), and network enabled capabilities (NEC). In his teaching practice he concentrates namely on engineer intelligence & reconnaissance, preparation of engineer specialists, engineer units, simulative and training technologies. In those fields he is an author and co-author of vocational lectures and publications.
