Colonel Tomáš NOVOTNÝ, PhD., born in 1960. Graduated the Air Force College in Košice (1984) and the National Defence University in Washington, D.C. (2009) where he received the Award for Excellence in Research in area of security studies. Served as a National Representative to the Allied Command Transformation and the US Central Command. As an external Subject Matter Expert of the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme, he lectured at foreign military education institutions. He has held leading positions in strategic and defence planning. Currently is working at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. He is the author of seven scientific and expert articles in domestic and foreign journals, or chapters in foreign professional books.
