Ltc. Dr. Ales Tichy, born 1980. He graduated from Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy (General Pharmacy and Pathobiochemistry and Xenobiochemistry) and Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove (Medical Chemistry and Biochemistry). Since 2005, he has been working at the Department of Radiobiology, Faculty of Military Health Sciences, University of Defence, where he currently holds the position of Deputy Head of the Department. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of ionizing radiation and he applies knowledge from the field of radiation biology in the research of new diagnostic and therapeutic tools for the treatment of acute radiation sickness. In addition to the development of new radioprotective agents, he is engaged with discovery of novel biomarkers applied in biological dosimetry.
